Sweet Gift

Last weekend my husband was working near Nanton, and though (and perhaps because) his project went sideways, he decided to stop at the candy store to buy treats! His choice for me was maple sugar candy, which I have not had in several years. Considering how far we live from sugar maples, the candy was unexpectedly very fresh, with the centre almost creamy in texture. The taste took me back to the first year we were married and our motorcycle Saturdays around Waterloo, Elmira and Elora with the fresh maple sugar candy from the market, the covered bridges, the Mennonite horse and buggies , and the beautiful fall colours. Sweet surprise and sweet memories. Well done.
