Transplanting

Transplanting is a satisfying project, but one I tend to put off. Since I hauled the soil bags out for seeding, this was a great time to get those little jobs done. I transplanted my fig tree, Green Ripple peperomia, and my watermelon peperomia. (Yes I made a mess but it was below zero in the garage, so way too cold for houseplants.)

When I switch pots, I move the care info along from the old pot. I started doing this when I got several unfamiliar plants on my birthday last year and I find it helps me remember what they are and their care requirements. For example NT means non-toxic – important info with a new cat in the house. BIL means bright indirect light, and DO means dry out between waterings. I also put the date I received the plant, and any transplanting dates.
