Whether or not you are a fan of Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes novels, the television series Sherlock (BBC) is worth a look. The relationship between Sherlock and Watson is brilliantly portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. The banter between them is quick and witty. In repartee, Sherlock could give Violet Crawley (Downton Abbey) a run for her money, and that is saying something. I like the storylines, often based on Doyle’s work, and I love seeing modern London. I often do not like modern adaptations of “classic” pieces but this one is very well written, set and acted. In North America, it can be found on PBS.
There are three seasons available, and a fourth is in the works.
I think I saw this available on Netflix. Lately I’ve been watching MI5. I love British TV. PBS runs a lot of really great things. My favorite is, “Call the Midwife”. Have you seen that series?
