This is one of our favourite hot sandwiches. It has flavour from the sausage, sautéed peppers and onions, cheese all wrapped in a bread boat that is chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
1 package of Italian sausage
1 yellow or red pepper
1 purple onion
1 cup grated cheese
1 loaf of French bread
Remove the sausage from the casings and fry it, breaking it up.
Slice onions and peppers and sauté them.
Hollow out a loaf of French bread to accommodate the filling.
Add the sausage and vegetables and top with cheese. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and slice.
