Winter Friends

“He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter…”
John Burroughs

I love to watch the deer as they graze in the morning. The younger ones do a bit of bounding, but mostly they paw through the snow to expose grass and then lick the snow of each other’s faces. It amazes me that they can find enough food to sustain them in the winter when there is just dried grasses and leaves available.
