Halloween temperatures where we live can vary from +15 to -25 degrees Celsius, so kids can come home quite cold, even if their costume fits OVER a snowsuit! When my kids were young, we were big Harry Potter fans, so we came up with something that Harry might have been served at the Three Broomsticks – Pumpkin Potion. I used to have this drink waiting for them when they returned with their candy haul. It filled them up a bit with something other than candy and warmed them up from the inside. Surprisingly, last weekend one asked if I would make it for her. I thought she would add coffee, but no, it was enjoyed in the traditional way! I thought some of you might enjoy it as well, so here you go, and Happy Halloween tomorrow.
Pumpkin Potion
4 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup canned pumpkin puree
1/8 tsp. EACH of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves and ginger
Heat the works in a saucepan on stove until it steams. Do not let it simmer or boil.
Mmmm a shot of espresso in there would be perfect! What a great idea, looks amazing! I bet it smells magical too!
