This may be my favourite book I have read this summer. It is written by Swedish writer Fredrik Backman and features a Scandinavian senior who likes a routine and set of rules, who is not socially gifted and who is grieving and lost. Like many others of his generation, he values things he understands, such as the engines on old cars, and loyalty. The young family that moves in next door to him, turns his world upside down by helping him find the power in purpose, in being valued and in finding friendship.

Deb this is one of my favourite books ever. I loved the aspect that each character grew to add value in his eyes. I often recommend this book when people are searching for a good read. Hope you’re all well. Miss you guys lots.

Hey Deb,
There is a Netflix (or Prime?) movie as well. Great story. I had forgotten about it.

I loved the book as well. I have also enjoyed other books by Fredrik Backman, such as Anxious People. He has an interesting way of developing characters.
