Well, this is my 1000th blog post on Everyday Cheer. I started blogging in May of 2014 to explore the WordPress platform for use at work. For practice, I chose Everyday Cheer as my focus because lots of simple things in life bring me pleasure; I was raised to look for and embrace joy in the everyday. I thought I could find quite a few things to write about under this title and so I began. My office chose to use another platform, but I discovered a whole new world of interesting people, ideas and images on WordPress and have not wanted to stop! A huge thank you to everyone who visits my blog! I hope you find some cheer here too. My dad (a Dane) would say “tusind tak” when he was very grateful, which literally means “a thousand thanks”. Fitting here I think.
My very first blog included this quote and I think it is timely at Christmas and everyday:
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
J. R. R. Tolkien
Congratulation!

Love the quote. After years of exchanging gifts with my best friend and her husband we decided to just enjoy a holiday meal and some cheer together every year from now on. I wish more people would make this decision – especially older folks like us who need for nothing. Friendship is the only gift we need.
Merry Christmas to you and yours. ♥
