Mulled Grape Juice

I learned to make this years ago in High School home economics class. I still enjoy it on occasion. It makes a nice, non-alcoholic seasonal drink.

2 1/2 cups concord grape juice
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
2″ cinnamon stick
3 whole cloves
half a nutmeg seed (or 1/2 tsp or so ground nutmeg)
peel of a mandarin orange
Pinch of salt

Combine this in a saucepan and simmer on low for half an hour or so. Although we used ground nutmeg originally, I like to use the nutmeg seed instead as it leaves no residue in the cup. Serve warm.
