A new coffee shop/bakery has opened in Okotoks called 94 Take the Cake. I’ve been there a few times now. They make a nice chai latte, and sitting in the front garden to enjoy it is very pleasant. They also have cupcakes – I tried the strawberry one. Not too sweet and packed with berry flavour. Go check them out, but leave me a seat!

J > I hadn’t realized you were near Calgary. And not so far from the Saskatoon Farm. The things I get to learn about Alberta. A lot I learned from a former colleague: she was born in Kenya to a Sikh family that moved there from Punjab in the 1950s. In the 1970s they moved to Calgary and became Canadian citizens. She consider herself a sanskrit-speaking, sikh kenyan albertan cowgirl. Living in Hemel Hempstead, England. Her dream was to move back to Canada, and settle in Banff or nearby. Got to learn a lot about life in Canada through her, and using Google Earth, Street View, and Wikipedia. And now I know one thing more – the latest development in Okotoks!

That is a pretty typical Canadian story -lots of people moving to and through.
We are an eight minute drive from the Saskatoon farm and it’s great fresh market.
