One of our family traditions is to have a cheese board with crackers and bread on Christmas Day. We celebrate with extended family on Christmas Eve, so Christmas Day is just our household, and has evolved into a more casual celebration involving pajamas, opening gifts around the tree, yummy hot drinks, nice music, and later in the day, the cheeseboard.
My fantastic hair stylist is also a foodie, and passed me this recipe from Atco Blue Flame Kitchen. I am sure it is good as written in the link above but I modified it to suit the ingredients I had on hand, and it turned out to be delicious as well. (I substituted all purpose flour for whole wheat, pecans for walnuts, and sunflower seeds for pumpkin seeds). I am including some photos of the procedure below, as the Atco recipe does not provide any.
You make the batter in a loaf pan.
Bake it and cool it. I froze it slightly and was able to slice more thinly to get 30 slices instead of 24)
The crackers then get a second bake (like biscotti) as you bake the slices to crisp them up.
