I love this show! Fortunately Canadians and Americans are able to watch it on PBS. The new season started here on Friday evening (we in North America are well behind you Brits in timing) so I settled in with my large mug of tea, set to chuckle and drool. Unfortunatly, there were 7 tornado emergency broadcast system warnings during the show, so I missed a bit, but did catch most of it.
Contestants are not professional bakers, but are a mix of professions, ages, and genders competing in a giant tent in the English countryside. Each show has three rounds: one signature bake (which they have had time to perfect ahead of the competition), one technical bake (to judge certain skills), and one showstopper, which has to wow the judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. There is good natured joking, colossal flops and great triumphs and I love watching it all. And… occasional shots of lambs, daffodils, and green grass do the spirit good. If it sounds like your cup of tea as well, tune in on Friday and let me know how you like it.
