I would not call myself a Trekkie, but I watched a lot of The Next Generation in my student years. My daughter, her friend and I visited the Trekcetera Museum in Vulcan, Alberta and were given a very enjoyable and informative tour by museum curator Michael Mangold. The musuem has a variety of authentic Star Trek costumes and props, as well as a growing collection of other movie props, such as the Superman cape Christopher Reeves wore in Superman 3. See the link to their website here.

Vulcan is a small farming community whose international claim to fame is the fact that it shares a name with Spock’s home planet. Leonard Nimoy has visited, as have several other actors from the series. The town holds Spock Days annually, and it looks like quite the event. I might have to check that out next year.
