Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Stocking stuffers are one of my favourite things to shop for, and our family traditions around opening them together first thing Christmas morning is the thing that makes it feel like Christmas Day to me. There are lots of lovely traditional stocking stuffer ideas such as favourite candies, flavoured nuts, lip gloss, nail polish, sample tea and coffee packets and oranges, but if you want to branch out a bit, here are a few things I enjoy that would make good little gifts.

  • Candle Dipper – We replaced our candle snuffers with this hooked tool that lets you dip the wick into the pooled, melted wax to extinguish the candle. It has the benefit of being smokeless, and re-dipping the wick in wax helps the candle burn longer over its life. Perfect for the asthmatic person in your family.
  • Lee Valley Jar Opener – This tool breaks the vacuum seal on jars, allowing a person to easily open jar lids. Perfect for those with reduced wrist strength, arthritis or anyone who can’t just pass it to the family Jar Opener Elect.
  • Cookie Cutters – these ones cut the outline and make an imprint as well, eliminating the need to ice them to show the features.
  • Silicone Cover for Apple Airpods – The Airpod case is slippery to carry around and I dropped mine a couple times before buying a silicone cover for it. It gives it more grip and also has a carabiner that you can hook over your finger or attach to your bag.
  • Scented Hand Sanitizer – I dislike the strong alcohol scent on many hand sanitizers. My daughter gave me these Black Cherry Merlot ones from Bath and Body Works and I love them!
  • Go Practical – I have used this mini Swiss Army Knife’s scissor countless times over the years for clipping loose threads, tags, etc, and the file is great when you are out and about and break a nail. I also like the mini flashlight that attaches to my keys as I don’t need to dig for my phone when I need light around my car. I love these pocket tissues that are paper towel strength-perfect for spills in the car.

More a gift than a stocking stuffer, but if you have a gardener on you shopping list, consider a beautiful amaryllis bulb or a nice pair of gardening gloves. (The ones shown below are from Lee Valley – thanks C&T).
