Christmas lights are a tradition that is enjoyed by young and old alike. With around 8 hours of daylight each day in December in Calgary, people are looking to add some light, excitement and a celebratory mood to improve what can be dark and cold time of year.
One of our traditions is to go out and enjoy Christmas lights. We usually try to take in a public display such as this one in Confederation Park, Spruce Meadows or the ZooLights in Calgary. I have included several photos of this year’s display.
We also like to choose a second night, usually winter solstice, to take a car tour of various neighbourhoods to see what individual households have put up. We arm ourselves with mugs of hot chocolate and some Christmas cookies and make a proper outing of it.
What are your Christmas light traditions?
