Big Rock

Big Rock 014

My youngest daughter recently commented she doesn’t remember ever being to the Big Rock west of Okotoks. We remedied that omission this week and took a nice walk around it. Our timing was good as it started to rain just as we were leaving.  The Big Rock is a glacial erratic, dumped far from its granite relations in the Rocky Mountains by a glacier many years ago . I have always found it to be quite an interesting rock with its various layers, nooks and crannies. Here is the website if you would like further details about its origins and history.
