I like a good blast of red here and there, and ribbon on a cupboard is an easy way to bring some Christmas cheer to a kitchen. I think the red looks pretty good with the oak cabinets. I just do a couple doors. Any more seems like overkill to me.
I pin the decorations where the ribbon meets, and tape the ends of the ribbon on the inside of the cupboard. Simple, inexpensive and effective.
