It has been a long while since I published a post. During the pandemic, I have felt I spend too much time on the computer as it is, and I haven’t had a lot of “new” things to post due to the “stay at home” lifestyle. But…I can’t let spring pass by with out a bit of a celebration!
There is something magical about the “re-greening” of the landscape as perennials come back to life and trees regain their leaves after winter finally departs (which is zone 2 is usually sometime in May). There are no mosquitoes yet, the sun is warm, the frogs have started up their chorus, and the geese are followed by fluffy little goslings. It is my favourite season also because gardening moves from pouring over gardening catalogs and repotting houseplants to starting seedlings and planting outdoors!
Here are a few of my seed starts, which our cat finds fascinating.
I’m trying dahlias for the first time this year as well. This is one month after planting the tubers, and pinching back the growth. Looking forward to see what they produce!
I got a Vegepod this year to increase the amount of veggie garden that is free of tree roots, and protected from the deer and rabbits. Things are coming up, so I am excited about that.
Elsewhere outdoors, the spring bulbs are bursting forth.
