Stuffed Meatball “Poutine”

My daughter loves cheese in everything, and particularly in meatballs, so I made a batch of cheese-stuffed meatballs, but I had a craving for fries and gravy, so we combined the ideas and sprinkled parmesan over the top. No cheese curds, I know, but tasty none the less.

Meatballs:
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
2 Tbsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. garlic powder
salt and pepper
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
cheddar cheese, cut in 1 cm cubes

Mix everything (except the cheddar) together. Form into balls, enclosing a cube of cheddar in each one. Pan fry until cooked through.

Fries
4 potatoes, sliced lengthwise into “fries”
olive oil, salt and pepper
beef gravy

Toss the cut potatoes in a small amount of olive oil to coat them and season with salt and pepper. Bake in an oven preheated to 400 degrees F. I usually bake them for 10 minutes per side, but it varies slightly depending on the amount of water in the potatoes.

Top the potatoes with meatballs and gravy and sprinkle with more parmesan (or cheese curds). Dig in!
