Abandoned, but Beautiful

Across the prairies there are little, abandoned houses like this one. In some cases, the families built bigger homes on another quarter, and some were simply abandoned in the Dirty Thirties when making a living was difficult, especially as a farmer. I hope they are never torn down. I love seeing them as I pass, wondering who lived there, what became of them, and what is the story of the land.

  1. I have a picture like that of the old house on our farm. Problem is now that people keep tearing these down so their sprinklers don’t get bothered. Very sad, Rolling Hills is very upsetting to see now. The farmsteads are all being torn down by people who don’t even live in Rolling Hills. Very sad.
